What is CrossFit? It's a difficult question to answer as CrossFit means so many different things to different people. Here is CrossFit in 100 words from founder Greg Glassman.

Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.

Our constantly varied training prepares you for the unknown and is transferable into everyday life.

We believe CrossFit is for everybody. Whether you are a novice, weekend warrior, granny or elite athlete. The great thing about our program is that every workout is scalable, everyone works at a weight and intensity that is safe, effective and relevant to them.

CrossFit’s speciality is not specialising in one thing but using huge variety to make you an all-round healthier, leaner, fitter, faster, stronger and more flexible person. Everyone you speak to loves the training, the workouts, learning new things and pushing their own boundaries, however we’ve found the best thing about CrossFit is the community spirit.

This community doesn’t stop at our box, its found in every box across the world. The real life sense of community and competitiveness is not found anywhere else. We are all doing the same WOD, the coaches, staff and other athletes all know what you are going through. We’re in this together!

We love seeing people test themselves at CrossFit Bukit Timah and for us it’s not about who has the biggest muscles or who has the fastest time on the board, it’s about you. You driving yourself forward, chasing the person in front, striving for your first pull up. Get ready to high five at the end of each session, have fun making sweat angels, talk about how much you lifted or how much stronger you feel, sharing your experience with the next class, all with a smile on your face!

This is CrossFit to us!
